The Wilderness Society is an Australian, community-based, NGO environmental advocacy organisation. Its vision is to "transform Australia into a society that protects, respects and connects with the natural world that sustains us." They include marine life in their campaigns, with success in halting Equinor from drilling in the Bight. In 2021 they are amongst the groups campaigning for UNESCO's proposal that the Great Barrier Reef be designated under threat.
