Tursiops researches cetaceans and their threats in the Balearic Islands, so that management measures can be based on scientific knowledge. Their stated belief is ‘the best way to fight for the protection, conservation and sustainability of cetacean populations in the Mediterranean is through science, with rigorous research.’ Their focus includes sperm whales (including evidence of collisions, to better understand this significant threat), assessment of underwater pollution via analysis of the underwater noise level in Ibiza and Formentera, through passive acoustic monitoring. Its correlation with the presence of cetaceans, especially bottlenose dolphins, development of marine parks, amongst other activities.
