Sustainable fishing

Description

Dahari’s mission is to create sustainable and productive landscapes with Comorian communities. This includes preserving rivers and marine ecosystems while improving the living conditions of the population. Their strategy grounded in five areas: rural development (agriculture, agroforestry, livestock farming), the management of terrestrial natural resources, the management of marine resources, biodiversity conservation (including ecological research) and ecotourism. The marine projects focus on sustainable fishing including sustainable techniques and diversification into alternatives such as drying, monitoring fisheries and coral reefs, and conservation education by engaging the local public in marine management initiatives. One such success was the temporary closure of four octopus fisheries which significantly increased catches after a short time.
