Clear Blue Sea

Clear Blue Sea is an non-profit organization with the stated mission 'to cleanse the oceans of plastic pollution'. To achieve this, they have developed a semi-autonomous and solar-powered device, Floating Robot for Eliminating Debris, FRED, which comes in various versions. Clear Blue Sea has an extensive internship programme, giving opportunities to participate in many different aspects of the organization, including engineering, robotics, merchandise design, administration, education, community projects.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium

Clearwater Marine Aquarium is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick and injured marine animals, public education, conservation, and research.

Climate Foundation

USA

The Climate Foundation is dedicated to moderate and reverse the effects of climate change in critical ecosystems. Their current focus is on Marine Permaculture with a view to the large-scale regeneration and open-ocean cultivation of kelp forests, both for food security and for carbon dioxide sequestration. They are working to restore the necessary circulation in the oceans which has been negatively affected by ocean warming, through wave- and solar-powered deep water pumps that sustain conditions conducive to forest growth. This technology is already being deployed in the Philippines, thereby restoring productivity to seaweed farms. Additional projects include one which involves reversing coral bleaching,

Climate Science and Policy Watch

Climate Science and Policy Watch is a public interest education and advocacy project 'dedicated to holding public officials accountable for the integrity and effectiveness with which they use climate science and related research in government policymaking, toward the goal of enabling society to respond effectively to the challenges posed by global warming and climate change.'

Cluster Maritimo Marina de Andalucía

CCMA describes itself as a cluster of 'Innovative Andalusian companies from different maritime subsectors with a common vision: the Blue Economy.' Sustainable fishing and alternative approaches to the sea as a resource are their main objects.

Coalition Clean Baltic

Sweden

The main goal of CCB is 'to promote the protection and improvement of the Baltic Sea environment and natural resources'. In 1990, non-governmental environmental organizations from the countries of the Baltic Sea Region established Coalition Clean Baltic (CCB)and at present consists of 27 member organizations from Belarus, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Denmark, Ukraine and Sweden. The CCB member organisations combined have over half a million members in all countries around the Baltic Sea.

Coast 2 Coast Movement

Peru

Located in Lobitos, Peru, Coast 2 Coast is California-based Beyond the Surface’s participatory audiovisual storytelling arm, though has its own identity as well. Beyond the Surface International (BTSI) works with rural students from small-scale fishing villages using surfing, transmedia storytelling, and mindfulness as Positive Youth Development tools for young learners to grow up resilient and promote social-ecological wellbeing for healthy oceans and people. BTSI collaborates with local partners around the world in marginalized artisanal fishing communities, including public schools, community-based nonprofits, and social welfare centers, facilitating workshops, programs, and festivals for young learners and educators to investigate and imagine wellbeing for sustainable futures. BTSI advocates that ocean conservation is a social, racial, and climate justice issue.

Coastal Cleanups Port Elizabeth

South Africa

Coastal Clean-ups PE is a local initiative aimed at cleaning up the coastline around Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape in an effort to better protect and conserve marine life, and educate the community on the effects of litter on the ecosystem.

Coastal Conservation Association

USA

The Coastal Conservation Association is a grassroots, non-profit, social movement organization of salt water anglers from 17 coastal states spanning the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic, and Pacific coasts. The CCA is primarily concerned with the restoration and conservation of coastal marine resources.

Coastal Education and Research Foundation

USA

CERF is a publisher with the stated goal is 'to help translate and interpret coastal issues for the public and to assist in the development of professional coastal research programs'. CERF-JCR disseminates the latest research information to professors, specialists, researchers, and the general public in an effort to maintain or improve the quality of our planet's coastal resources, via scientific papers, book and encyclopedia series, their monthly society newsletter (Just CERFing), and the internet.

Coastal Marine Research Station (ECIM)

Chile

ECIM is the marine research and teaching laboratory of the Pontificia Catholic University of Chile (PUC). It has an associated marine protected area. From their website: 'While coastal marine ecology, sustainable management and conservation are still the core research fields at the lab, there is now active inter-disciplinary research in microbiology, population genetics, biological and physical oceanography, coastal engineering, marine renewable energies and other fields of marine sciences.'

Coastal Research and Education Society of Long Island

A group of experts in marine mammal science, environmental sciences, education and conservation, CRESLI was formed for the purposes of conducting research, providing educational experiences and promoting conservation of coastal ecosystems.
