Marine research, Education, Marine conservation
MSI is involved in research and academic endeavours in marine biology, marine chemistry, physical oceanography, marine geology, and related disciplines such as biotechnology. The institute studies marine ecosystems in its main compound in the National Science Complex and the Bolinao Marine Laboratory in Bolinao, Pangasinan. It also pursues extension work in marine protection and management.
